Tata Motors has launched the AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) variant of the Zest. The Zest XTA is the new top-end Zest trim with the AMT gearbox and is priced at Rs 8.07 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The Zest AMT is the only diesel car on sale in India with an AMT gearbox. Till now it was only offered in a mid-spec variant that was devoid of a host of features.

The Zest XTA AMT now gets all the features available on the XT variant. These include the Harman sourced touchscreen infotainment system that has a bunch of interesting features like voice commands, smartphone enabled navigation, SMS readouts and more. On the safety front, the XTA variant gets driver and passenger airbags, pre-tensioning seatbelts and a perimetric alarm system. A height adjustable driver’s seat, rear defogger, climate control and rear parking sensors are now standard equipment.

On the outside, the XTA variant gets alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and LED light rings on the headlamps. The Zest AMT is offered only with the ubiquitous Fiat sourced Quadrajet 1.3-litre diesel engine. It develops 90PS of peak power at 4000rpm and 200Nm of peak torque from 1750-3000rpm. The gearbox is a five speed unit that helps deliver more mileage than the manual Zest. ARAI rates its efficiency figure at 21.58kmpl.

Hi all! I will buy my first car and chose Tata Zest. I chose this model for good tech specs, efficiency and relatively low price.
