Lamborghini India reports 21 percent growth last year

    In another indication that the high end luxury car market’s appeal despite sluggish growth in India, the Italian luxury car-maker Lamborghini has reported 21 percent growth in 2012. According to a PTI report, the Italian super car maker has stated that its global sales increased by over 30 per cent to 2,083 units in 2012 driven by robust performance in many markets, including India.
    The company stated that Automobili Lamborghini SpA increased worldwide deliveries to customers in 2012 from 1,602 to 2,083 units and also strong demand continues for award-winning Aventador." It was reported that during the year, the Asia Pacific region contributed 35 per cent of the global total sales.
    It was reported that despite global market headwinds, Lamborghini grew in Europe by 34 per cent, 50 per cent in America (53 per cent in the US) and 46 per cent in Southeast Asia and Pacific. Automobili Lamborghini SpA President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann said "In spite of ongoing worldwide financial and economic uncertainties, Lamborghini has delivered a very satisfying performance in 2012, confirming the strength of our product and commercial strategy".
    The company said that the growth is driven by the first full year of sales for the new Aventador LP 700-4 (922 units), while the Gallardo confirms its status as the most successful Lamborghini ever with a stable performance compared to 2011 with 1,161 units sold in 2012.
